Mt Airy's 18 Best Golf Course first opened for play in 1980. The course was designed by Hal C. Purdy. The course was rennovated in 2009 by Dan Schlegel.

There is a great variety of greens design, both in size and contour. They range in size from the largest, measuring 9,800 square feet, to the smallest, covering just 3,400 square feet. Nine holes are affected by water, in the form of seven ponds and one creek. There are five par 5's and five par 3's on the course. The longest par 5 tops out at 556 yards from the back tee. The signature hole is #18, a 556-yard, par 5, which faces the resort hotel. It features a dogleg fairway that breaks slightly to the right. Water skirts the entire left side of the fairway.
